easy run, new route

Proof that school is bad for one's health: That morning routine I had set for myself didn't work out as planned, thanks to tons and tons of paperwork I had to submit this week. Thank God that's over, for now!

So, I told myself I would go jogging after class Friday night after three days of no decent physical activity. Harroun, a friend of mine, was running as well, so we decided to run together. I was introduced to a different route, thanks to him. Though it's only a 3k trail, it was a good run nonetheless, since the path was totally new to me. There's this newly renovated area by the College of Science and I've since been wanting to experience it. It's this huge circular pathway with a road that's kinder to the knees; it's flatter and not as elevated as the acad oval. There's a lot of sky space as well, so one could see the sky's transition perfectly.

From the College of Science oval, we passed through that street heading to the Chemistry building (I am so awful with street names), turned left heading to the road where the College of Architecture is, turned right on that road and went straight into the acad oval. We did one round then headed back to the College of Home Economics.

Harroun's pace was faster than my usual; I tried to keep up for the most part, but surrendered during the last few meters. It was a good run, nonetheless.

I was thinking of running again this afternoon, going through the same route as yesterday but only extending it to at least 5k, and an 8k at most. I signed up for a 15k run set for March, which is why I am more motivated than usual to keep on running. Wouldn't want to waste P350, now do I?

new shoes, new routine

Finally got to break in my new running shoes this morning! Here they are in all their shining shimmering glory:

Check

them

babies

oooout.

Got them on sale the other day for half off. It was the last pair they had in my size. Aren't they beauteous? They're a tad lighter than my missing pair of Adidas Climacools (God knows where they are) and are just as breezy. The neon color's just fantastic; I love how it's both flashy and subtle at the same time. All in all a good buy, in my opinion!

Went for a quick run this morning after dropping my grandfather off at Tomas Morato. Went straight to UP, prepped up and did a few stretches, and we were off by 6:30. My boyfriend, who jogged with me, only managed to do an easy 4k since his knee started acting up again. It was cold and the air was slightly thin, and his knee hurts faster with that kind of weather. I, on the other hand, ran a good 7k and it felt, well, good.

I'm planning on making this my new routine from now on, this whole jogging-early-in-the-morning thing. The streets are still relatively smog-free and there are less people. Also, it's a great starter-upper especially if you know you've got numerous meetings with Mr. Stress throughout the day. Hopefully this keeps up!

5k fantastic

Running sure feels awesome, especially during the post-Christmas months. The air is cool and a lot of people are doing their respective rounds, all of them burning off the excess holiday fat, I suspect. Also, Zorro was there, of course! Sporting a new racer-type mask and taking down notes on his imaginary pad with an imaginary pen, occasionally talking on his imaginary phone. Funny, that guy. He speaks in straight English, too!

Hmmm. Then again, it could all be real! He could be some undercover government/anti-government/alien agent disguised as a crazy guy for a more harmless person effect. What if the glove he's wearing is some sort of fingerprint-capturing device that reads a person's hand during an occasional high five he throws out?? HIDE THE CHILDREN! GATHER THEM PUPPY DOGS! THE WORLD IS ENDING AS WE KNOW IT!!

...Yeah. Anyways, I initially planned on doing a 10k but settled with a 5k during my 3rd kilometer after hearing my tummy do a five-second alto. I walked a good 50 meters before ending, all the while taking in the beauty of UP and its community. By 6:30pm, I decided to go home.

That's it, basically. Here's to keeping the ball rolling from now on!

It's been THAT long?

Wow. More than a year of no writing! ...and I realize I've nothing to say. Talk about progress!

Anyway, I've been at a running low since November and the consequences are showing. (hello, belly flab!) I've been swimming and taking occasional long walks as replacement, though! However, the amount I spend working out isn't enough, and this disappoints me. Re-learning the processes of time management is in order, starting tomorrow!

I've also been meaning to get a new pair of running shoes as my old pair has decided to go missing, though I feel it's probably off enjoying itself with someone who actually uses it. Note to self: never take good things for granted! (there is sense somewhere in that statement)

Also, reading old blog entries from LJ has actually given me more motivation to work out. Here's to hoping that it actually works! Tomorrow, Acad Oval. You and me.
